Long-standing Clintonville restaurant closing; To be replaced by Yellow Springs Brewery taproom

Columbus is losing a long-standing restaurant, but gaining a new taproom from one of the Buckeye state’s most lauded craft breweries in the process.

The Crest, which has been located at 2855 Indianola Ave. in Clintonville since the spring of 2013, announced that it will close, and will be replaced by a Yellow Springs Brewery taproom and kitchen.

The Crest will close in September, according to a statement from A&R Creative (the restaurant group behind the eatery) and Yellow Springs Brewery. The new taproom and kitchen will undergo minor renovations only, retaining much of its current atmosphere. Yellow Springs Brewery plans to open the new space in October.

“Yellow Springs Brewery and A&R Creative began exploring the idea of a partnership in early 2023. As talks continued, it became clear to both companies that they share similar values in regards to running a business—a strong sustainability focus with a connection to nature, a culture of inclusion and enrichment for our employees, and a strong ambition to connect to the local community,” the statement reads.

Yellow Springs Brewery currently operates one location, a joint taproom and brewing facility, in Yellow Springs.

“Known for great tasting beers and strong brand authenticity, Yellow Springs Brewery has built a following of beer lovers in the Dayton and Columbus area that has grown year after year,” the statement reads. “Considering that a large number of weekend customers in their Yellow Springs taproom come from Columbus, an extensive effort has been made to send more products into the Columbus area over the last couple of years.”
