When Friday rolls around, it will bring with it the second iteration of an international swordfighting event to the Columbus area.

Now in its second year, the Ascalon Sword Festival will return to Columbus in 2023. It will be held March 17-19 at the Royal Arts Fencing Academy, which is located at 5770 Westbourne Ave.

The festival will feature more than 150 elite swordsmen and swordswomen who will battle it out across a wide variety of Historical European Martial Arts swordfighting categories, including Military Saber, Longsword, Rapier & Dagger, Sword & Buckler and more.

The event, which is free to attend, was held within itself the Arnold Classic before 2022. Last year was the first year that the Ascalon Sword festival broke out as a standalone event, which it will be again this year.
