After more than 30 years, this Columbus movie theater has closed

Just days after the closure of a long-standing Bethel Road restaurant, an even longer-tenured movie theater located on Bethel Road has shuttered as well.

Cinemark Carriage Place Movies 12, more commonly referred to as Carriage Place, has closed. The theater is listed as “permanently closed” on the Cinemark website, and a Cinemark representative confirmed the closure with 614Now as well.

“Cinemark can confirm that it has permanently closed its Carriage Place Movies 12 theater following the conclusion of its lease term. This closure is normal course of business and the result of the careful and ongoing review of our theater fleet,” the Cinemark representative said.

The movie theater first opened in the early 1990s.

The closure of Carriage Place comes just days after another long-standing Bethel Road business shut its doors. The theater closed after screenings on Sunday, while the Bethel Road location of Texas Roadhouse officially closed on Thursday.
