From live music to Food Truck Food Courts, Columbus Commons is your Downtown headquarters for summer fun

Columbus Commons, set within the center of Downtown Columbus, is more than just an iconic six-acre park. It’s a gathering spot for the city, and it’s also your hub for warm weather fun in Columbus.

After kicking off late last month, the Commons’ slate of 2023 will include a total of more than 200 different events (yes, you read that correctly), featuring live music, food-related events, movie screenings, family fun and much, much more.

While there’s far too much going on to fit everything, here are some of this summer’s highlights:

-Brand-new for 2023 is an event series known as Brews in the Bosque, which serves as an open-air happy hour with “backyard-meets-garden-vibes” and plenty of music (often featuring live bands and DJs). Brews in the Bosque will take place the first Wednesday of each month through Oct. 4.

-If it’s family-friendly fun you’re after, a Free Family Fun Day will be held on May 27 from 4-8 p.m., complete with inflatables, face painting, live music, crafts and more. An early opening to accommodate children on the autism spectrum will be held as well. Stick around for a free outdoor showing of Moana. Additionally, each Friday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. between June 9 and Aug. 12 will feature a variety of free kid-focused activities and attractions.

-Looking to take in some tunes? Columbus Commons is hosting a Shadowbox Live performance of Flower Power, which chronicles the ground-breaking music of the 1960s, on May 28. Additionally, a series of free concerts featuring local acts will take place every Thursday in August.

-While exercise can feel like a chore, it will likely be a whole lot more engaging in a six-acre park in the heart of Downtown Columbus. Free fitness classes take place weekly through Sept. 27, offering yoga three times each week (Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., plus Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.), and cardio once a week (Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.).

-And if all this activity works up an appetite, the Columbus Commons has you covered there as well. In addition to Jeni’s and Tortilla Street Food sharing a seasonal eatery in the center of the park, the Commons also offers breakfast food trucks (Galaxy Coffee, Biscuit Boss and Broke Johnny) from 7:30-10:30 a.m. every Wednesday through Oct. 25, and its Food Truck Food Court series, which takes place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. every Thursday through Oct. 26, featuring Fetty’s Street Food, Pitabilities, Hibachi Run, Taesty’s, Paddy Wagon, Elevated Pizza and two rotating trucks each month.
