Clintonville eatery recognized by Yelp for country’s craziest milkshakes likely to close in near future

There are few Columbus food concepts as inventive and original as Libby Lou’s Fun Factory in Clintonville, but unfortunately, it may not be around much longer.

According to owner Tara Becker, unless the concept “is able to really turn it around” throughout 2024, Libby Lou’s will close its doors after its ends. Fans of the concept don’t need to worry about anything happening immediately, however.

Becker noted that Libby Lou’s lease will expire in May of 2025, and should the decision be made to close, it won’t happen until then.

“I get a lot of business but it’s really just not enough to sustain all of my overhead and labor. I don’t use any kind of loans to fund my shop at all. Because I just don’t want that kind of debt,” she said. “So unless I can really turn things around this year, then yes, May 2025 will be our last month.”

Becker also noted an alleged incident that occurred with the concept’s food truck last year and later in early January, which involved Columbus Police. You can read Becker’s post about the incident below. Columbus Police did not respond to a request for comment about the post.

Throughout its time in Clintonville, the sweet shop has created everything from ice cream nachos and funnel cake fries, to some of the city’s craziest milkshakes and more. Libby Lou’s Fun Factory is located at 3039 Indianola Ave.
