Columbus outranks cities in Italy as one of the ‘Most Pizza-Obsessed Cities in the World’

Happy National Pizza Month! Or, for us Columbusites, just another day.

In fact, we love pizza so much, that our city is making international headlines for our za obsession. Chef’s Pencil, a food industry publication, scoured international Google trends and 50 Top Pizza, an international pizza guide and magazine based in Italy, to find the most pizza-obsessed cities.

And all that being said – Columbus came out among the top ‘Most Pizza-Obsessed Cities in the World,’ beating Chicago, and even Rome and Milan, Italy!

“Columbus, Ohio, surprisingly ranks fourth in the world…Known for its very own Columbus-style pizza, a unique square-cut, thin-crust pizza, the city’s pizza culture is strong and diverse,” said Chef’s Pencil.

Of all the cities in the world though, Philly took the number one ranking. The people in the city made the most pizza-related searches over the past five years. It makes sense, considering Philadelphia has the second largest Italian-American community in the U.S.
