Local bakery announces they’re closing this month

Sav McKee

Earlier this year, a central Ohio bakery asked for your help to keep their doors open, saying on their social media that they would have to close “unless things change quickly.”

Now, The Fat Girl Bakery, located at 6457 N. Hamilton Rd. in Westerville, is closing their doors permanently.

In a heartfelt Facebook post yesterday, the beloved bakery said, “It is with the greatest of heartbreak that we will be closing permanently on March 30th. We will maintain normal hours til then, not accepting orders, only in store sales.”

The Fat Girl Bakery moved from Lewis Center into a new Westerville storefront May of last year, and unfortunately, the new storefront lacked visibility. Earlier this year, the owner told 614Now that people didn’t know they were even there. Also, “Our move was financially too much and we just were never able to climb back with such high overhead,” their post continued.

You still have about 11 days to show them your support and grab some homemade cupcakes, sugar cookies, macarons, plus so much more.

“I can’t thank all of you enough for being a part of my journey,” Fat Girl Bakery said. “I don’t feel this is the end of my story honestly but it’s what needs to happen next. We’ve made great friends-family-and will miss you. My staff, I love you all. What will my days be like without you? I’ve never been so blessed in my life as I have here. Thank you everyone. Please stop in and say good bye.”
