New cocktail bar with unique drinks featuring Cheerios and chlorophyll opens this week

About two months ago, news broke that the creators behind the beloved, now-closed speakeasy bar, The Light of Seven Matchsticks, which was tucked under Natalie’s Pizza in Worthington, were opening a new bar.

But it’s almost seemed like a year has gone by since that announcement – the anticipation has been building. Not for long, though.

This new cocktail bar, I Like It Like That, is officially opening tomorrow (Wednesday the 20th) at 945 King Ave., in the same building that houses Natalie’s Grandview.

Guests can make dinner reservations Wednesday-Saturday from 5-9:30pm, enjoying wood-fired small plates brought to you by Megan Hodges and Dustin Mustard. Those who were lucky enough to snag a spot at their soft opening loved the Chicken Nayarit, Skirt Steak, Charcuterie, and yes – the famous duck fat popcorn that they served at Matchsticks.

After hours are from 10pm-12am Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 10pm-1am Fridays and Saturdays, where you can explore their incredible cocktail list from the minds of Genevieve Johnson and Lindsay Koontz. These unique cocktails include the “Pimpinella,” with Sipsmith Gin, falernum, tarragon, vanilla, chipotle cacao, chlorophyll, citrus, and an absinthe rinse. “Journey>Destination…Or Whatever They Say,” featuring Maker’s Mark, Green River Bourbon, Pasubio, blood orange vermouth, Cheerios, salted honey, and bitters.

The name “I Like It Like That” is inspired by the old New Orleans song by Chris Kenner. This new bar will embody an atmosphere “unlike anything we’ve ever done before. Think Rainbow Row meets Matchsticks,” the staff said. They plan on spinning vinyl for part of their music assortment, as well as featuring a funky jukebox.

You can make reservations here, and follow along their journey on their Instagram.
