Owner Douglass Buckley spent more than a decade roasting coffee in Tanzania, and aims to highlight the region in his drinks. After the business acquires its liquor license, the space will even be home to a bar, where it will combine coffee and cocktails, like its Zanzibar spiced espresso martini. Buckley will also use the space as a roastery.
“From my work as a high school English teacher in Worthington, to pastoring a church in East Africa my life calling has been focused on bringing people of different backgrounds together. The East African origin story of coffee is another way to bring people together in our city,” Buckley said in a press release. The Black Kahawa Coffee Roastery + Bar at 2 East Broad is the perfect place to slow down with bold delicious cup of coffee, or cocktail and enjoy conversation and a beautiful view of Downtown Columbus.”
