Former Columbus restaurateur and Food Network star arrested on burglary, strangulation charges

Darnell “SuperChef” Ferguson, the face of the Food Network series SuperChef’s Grudge Match, a co-host and judge of multiple other Food Network productions and a former Columbus resident, was arrested on burglary and strangulation charges earlier this week. 

According to court records and a WHAS11 report, Ferguson allegedly entered the home of a Louisville woman without permission, strangled her and threatened to kill her. 

He was arrested Jan. 9, and was later released on bond, according to the Louisville Metropolitan Department of Corrections website. Court documents show he has a preliminary hearing in the case scheduled for Jan. 18.

Born in Philadelphia, Ferguson grew up in Columbus, and was the co-owner of the former Gahanna restaurant and bar, Stadium.

Additionally, after launching his own restaurant in Louisville, SuperChef’s, he helped bring the concept to Columbus, although he is no longer associated with the central Ohio location of SuperChef’s, which serves as a spot for breakfast food and more and is located at 1376 Cherry Bottoms Rd. in Gahanna. The eatery is temporarily closed for training, but will reopen on Jan. 12.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to all parties involved,” Ohio SuperChef’s owner Ryan Bryson told 614Now.
