Jack McLaughlin

With longer days and warmer temperatures not so slowly finding their way to central Ohio, it’s time to start planning out your summer fun.

While the entire Columbus area offers no shortage of things to do, the city of Westerville boasts a unique combination of enticing dining, a bustling, historic uptown district and a packed slate of seasonal events offering fun for the whole family.

While you can check out the entire 2024-2025 Westerville Visitors Guide here, we’ve also put together a list of engaging events taking place in early summer in Westerville for you.

Saturday Farmers Markets

Opening day is May 18, with the market running from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. every Saturday through Sept. 28. The weekly Farmers Markets are located in the parking lot behind City Hall.

Field of Heroes

Celebrating its 16th year in 2024, Field of Heroes takes place each Memorial Day Weekend at the Westerville Sports Complex. The event is designed for Central Ohioans to remember and honor their personal heroes through flag displays, reading of names, concerts, a 5K run/walk and more, concluding with the Memorial Day ceremony. This year’s theme is Ohio Heroes in Flight.

Fourth Friday Festival

On the 4th Friday of each month, Uptown Westerville comes alive in street festival style, complete with art, food and a DORA covering a stretch of State Street. The first Fourth Friday Festival of the season will be held on May 24 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.

Westerville Music & Arts Festival

The annual Westerville Area Chamber Westerville Music & Arts Festival returns to Heritage Park & Everal Barn July 13-14. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the festival. Enjoy 125 fine arts and craft exhibitors, 23 food trucks, 30 musical performances, kids entertainment, youth art exhibits, and more!

Walking Tours

Walking Tours are available in Westerville all year long. Here are two tours not to be missed this summer season:

Uptown Epic Beer Walk: Where history meets beer in Uptown Westerville. Learn the story of the ‘Dry Capital of the World’ and sample great beers from Westerville breweries. Every Saturday at 2 p.m. now through October.

Uptown Clue: An outdoor murder mystery walking tour inspired by the classic board game Clue. Participants are the team of detectives who go on an outdoor adventure of Uptown Westerville, guided by a comic duo who create an ensemble of ridiculous suspects. Tours run every Saturday June 1- July 6 at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Sounds of Summer Concert Series

Westerville’s annual Summer Concert Series kicks off in June with concerts every Sunday, June-August at the Alum Creek Park North outdoor Amphitheater. All concerts run from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
