This unique local sandwich shop is closing its doors

SteamRoller Bagel Sandwiches, located at 115 N. Prospect St., been offering up its unique sandwiches—served on a bagel and steamed—since January of 2017.

But according to a statement posted to the restaurant’s Facebook account, the eatery won’t end up hitting the five-year mark after it’s all said and done. SteamRoller plans to close its doors for good on Dec. 19.

Until that date, SteamRoller will continue its regular schedule. This means the eatery will be open (for pickup and delivery only) Thursday through Sunday, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The restaurant cited staffing issues as the largest factor contributing to the closure.

“This is why we never successfully reopened the dining area, this is why the menu never got bigger, and why we never got to reopen on Monday through Wednesday,” owner Jay Snyder said in a statement.

Despite the closure, Snyder noted his gratitude after being able to serve the city for nearly half a decade.

“I’m sorry to all who feel this loss, I can’t tell you what an honor it has been to work for you these last five years, and to brighten your day with products we created to spark the joy you felt,” he said.
