Get ready to interact with 12,000 butterflies at Franklin Park Conservatory

Starting this weekend, Franklin Park Conservatory will transform into something of a tropical paradise, as its Pacific Island Water Garden will be filled with over 12,000 butterflies throughout the spring for Blooms & Butterflies.

The event, which kicks off on Feb. 26 and runs until May 30, adds 700-800 butterflies to the biome each week, and any given day sees approximately 2,500 butterflies in the space.

According to the Conservatory, these butterflies–which are hatched on-site–live their entire lives at Franklin Park Conservatory, feeding at fruit and nectar stations and interacting with event guests and lush tropical plant life.

Guests can even watch the butterflies emerge as adults in the Conservatory’s Metamorphosis Lab.

Blooms & Butterflies is included with the price of admission, which is free for Franklin County residents on March 6, April 3 and May 1.
