Longstanding restaurant and bar chain closes last Ohio location
After serving Columbus for more than two decades, Champps Kitchen + Bar has officially closed its doors.
The eatery, located at 1827 Olentangy River Rd., posted signage to its front door indicating the closure.
“Dear valued customers, we regret to inform you that this location has permanently closed. Thank you for a wonderful 25 years,” the sign reads.

The eatery, a national chain, also removed a listing for its Columbus location from its website. Champs did not respond to a request for comment by the time this story was published.
Champps, which featured a laid-back atmosphere and a menu filled with modern American fare, was founded in Saint Paul, Minn. in 1984. While it once operated a handful of Ohio eateries, the former Columbus storefront was its final location in the state. Currently, there are four Champps restaurants remaining.
