Sinkhole in parking lot among health and safety violations at Eastland Mall
According to the office of the Columbus City Attorney, a list of health and safety violations have been filed against Eastland Mall property owners Eastland Mall Holdings LLC and IGWT Properties LLC.
The issues noted in court documents include unkept grass, unsecured doorways in vacant buildings, missing brickwork, multiple signs lacking illumination and an open sinkhole in the mall’s parking lot, among others.
“Conditions at Eastland continue to deteriorate, and immediate action is needed to protect the health and safety of the general public and patrons of the mall,” Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein said in a press release. “We want to see current ownership step up to make these fixes, but we are prepared to pursue every legal avenue to ensure this economic driver on our City’s east side is safe, vibrant and positioned for the future.”
