Combination butcher shop and restaurant coming to North Market Downtown
Saddleberk, the unique combination butcher shop and eatery, received a sterling reception when it opened its first-ever brick and mortar restaurant in North Market Bridge Park last fall.
And now, the popular concept is headed Downtown.
The North Market announced today that Saddleberk will be replacing Penny’s Meats in its iconic Downtown marketplace, located at 59 Spruce St. Penny’s will close its North Market location after service on May 8. An exact opening date wasn’t announced, but Saddleberk is expected to open “shortly after,” according to a press release.

“We are thrilled to welcome the most elevated butcher concept central Ohio has ever seen!” said North Market’s Executive Director Rick Harrison Wolfe in a press release. “It remains an integral part of our mission at North Market Downtown to continue to offer the finest in fresh offerings for our guests. I know guests will be pleased with the excellent, fresh products that Saddleberk will bring to the Market.”
Saddleberk began as a company raising sought-after Berkshire pigs and distributing their meat to local grocery stores before adding a commercial dining concept with its opening in North Market Bridge Park last year.
