Popular Short North restaurant announces permanent closure
Last week, 614Now reported that Melt Bar and Grilled temporarily closed its Short Restaurant due to staffing concerns. In a press release issued this morning, the Lakewood-based eatery has announced that this location is now permanently closed.
Melt’s Short North eatery was located at 840 N. High St.
“It’s been 9 great years in The Short North,” said Melt Bar and Grilled owner Matt Fish in a press release, “However, with very difficult staffing challenges, major cost increases, and other new issues to navigate in the post-pandemic world, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close the Melt Short North location.”

Fish noted the Short North restaurant was Melt’s first location outside of the Cleveland area, and that it played an important role in the growth of the company, which now operates restaurants in Akron, Canton and Dayton, in addition to another Columbus location in Easton Town Center and four storefronts in the Cleveland area.
“The Short North location was received with lots of excitement and enthusiasm and remained busy over the last 9 years,” Fish said in the press release. “The location at the corner of High & Hubbard was in the heart of the Short North District, near the Ohio State campus and downtown, and fit our concept perfectly; it really helped Melt Bar and Grilled transform from a funky neighborhood place that served gourmet comfort food and great beer to a true restaurant group.”
