DeWine declares today official Dolly Parton Day in Ohio

Today across the Buckeye State, Ohioans will celebrate the inaugural Dolly Parton Day, unless you’re named Jolene, that is.

That’s because Ohio Governor Mike DeWine officially declared Aug. 9 as honorary Dolly Patron Day in Ohio, the Governor’s Office shared in a press release yesterday evening.

The declaration comes one day before Parton’s scheduled visit to Columbus, on Aug. 10, to promote early literacy and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio.

The Imagination Library program currently mails more than 327,000 Ohio children a free and age-appropriate book every month. The program is open to all children up to the age of five across the state of Ohio.
