Food truck featuring South American sandwiches and more opening first brick and mortar restaurant

A popular food truck serving South American sandwiches and much more is about to open its first-ever permanent home.

According to owner Hector Munoz, Cilantro Latin Fusion plans to hold the soft opening of its new restaurant space, which is located at 4852 Sawmill Rd. The eatery will take over the former home of Chili Verde.

The eatery’s soft opening will take place on April 27. Munoz said he believes the restaurant’s grand opening will take place on May 1.

The concept is referred to as fusion as it combines elements of different South American cultures into a single, eclectic menu.

“When we first opened our food truck three years ago, we only sold Venezuelan-style food,” Munoz said. “But then we thought about people from the Dominican Republic, from Ecuador, and we wanted to represent all of these cultures with our food.”

The eatery’s flagship items, according to Munoz, are its arepas, a Venezuelan sandwich that combines grilled beef, warm cheese and cilantro sauce in a toasted bun made from ground maize.
