As the days grow darker and with a new chill in the air, one thing is on every college student’s mind: what to do on Halloween. Luckily, The Ohio State University and Columbus have so many possible options where anyone can find an exciting way to spend this year’s All Hallows’ Eve, whether it’s going to a party, rocking out at a show, or opting for a spooky play.
Arouse & The Crypt – Oct. 28th
Wear your best costume and get excited for a night of great music. Arouse & The Crypt are presenting a Halloween show with bands: Cellar Dweller, Bomb Bunny, Rat Motel, Starling and Spill Way. There’s an $8 fee which will all be donated to Kaleidoscope Youth Center. Not only will this show be a wicked time but it’s also for a great cause! Halloween K-Pop RPD – October 27th
If you love to dance and listen to K-Pop music, this is the event for you! Hosted by Nex+ Crew, you’ll enjoy a “terrifyingly fun night” and costumes are strongly recommended. For those who don’t know, RPD means Random Play Dance, where songs play back to back and people who are familiar with the dance moves get to show them off. Snacks and drinks will be provided and it will take place from 6-8 pm at Curl Viewpoint.
Post Sunday Scaries: A Flop Filled Comedy Night – October 30th
Hosted by Ohio Union Activities Board (OUAB) comes a chillingly funny night where comedians will share their haunting dating stories and more! Pizza, laughs and beverages will be provided. If you’re in the mood for a scary movie and a spooky time, Gateway Film Center is the place for you. Continuing their annual tradition, Gateway will be showing Hitchcock films every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for all of October. Short North Stage’s “The Rocky Horror Show” – until October 29th
Are you ready to do the time warp again? This season, The Short North Stage once again brings a new interpretation of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. A Halloween classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show follows the tale of Brad and Janet and the shenanigans that ensue as their car breaks down and they enter the creepy mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. According to Phantom, JD Mooney this reinterpretation, “is a flashy and extravagant production filled with rock music, elaborate costumes, energetic dances and lots of audience participation! There truly is no other music that involves the audience as much as The Rocky Horror Show- the fourth wall is quite literally shattered.” For an astounding, camp and comedic night, tickets are available from until the 29th and can be found at shortnorthstage.org. Students can also purchase tickets for $20 at the door.
