Columbus’ first-ever Uyghur restaurant opened, specializing in hand-stretched noodles
“We want the Americans to know the Uyghur people, our culture,” said Kamil Abdushukur, co-owner of Columbus’ first-ever Uyghur restaurant along, with Arzumatt Kamil.
Kamil and Arzumatt were raised in the town of Uramqi in Xinjiang, an autonomous region in Northwest China. What better way to get to know the Uyghur people than by their food?!
Kamil’s Uyghur Cuisine, which is now open and located at 875 Bethel Road inside of Dayou International Market’s food court, offers a fusion of Middle Eastern, Chinese, and East Asian flavor. They specialize in thin hand-stretched noodles called “laghman,” a staple of many of these dishes.
