Eat pizza to support the foodservice industry
Starting Jan. 25, you can order a pepperoni pizza and help support those in the foodservice industry affected by the pandemic.
During fundraiser Pizza With a Purpose, which runs Jan. 25-31, the Ohio Restaurant Employee Relief Fund will receive $1 for every pepperoni pizza sold from participating eateries.

Patty Halper, executive director of the Ohio Restaurant Association Education Foundation, which manages the Ohio Restaurant Employee Relief Fund, said the fund was started in April as a way to help hospitality employees immediately impacted by reduced hours or temporary closures.
“We wanted to do something for the employees,” Halper said.
The fund is used to distribute grants to food service and hospitality industry employees across the state for food, shelter, and medical expenses, she said. Over 1,300 grants have been awarded so far.
“Our industry is one that helps its own,” she said.
The Ohio Restaurant Employee Relief Fund has raised $450,000 so far and still going, Halper said.
