Donut pops are the new dessert craze you need to try
You’ve heard of cake pops. You may even know about cakesicles. Chances are, though, donut pops are new territory.
But now with Donna’s Delicious Dozen selling the inventive new treats in their storefront on the city’s northwest side, adventurous Columbus snackers can try them as soon as today.
“It’s the same concept as a cake pop, only these are made from donuts,” said owner Traci Lukemire, who noted they use cake instead of yeast donuts. “Ours are dipped in chocolate as well.”

Donna’s is currently offering the fun treats with a dark, milk, or white chocolate shell, complete with a smattering of multi-colored sprinkles.
Not only do the pops taste great and provide a fun new way to eat donuts, according to Lukemire, they actually help to cut down on food waste, and boost the store’s efficiency.
“We sell our donuts warm, so it’s a great way for us to still use the donuts that don’t get sold,” she said. “We turn them into donut pops.”
While they started out being made for special events only, Donna’s started selling donut pops in its storefront this weekend, and they were a hit. They’re still being made in limited quantities, meaning they may occasionally sell out, but most days they’re just a short drive away.
