Historic Westerville Armory development will bring North High taproom, restaurant, outdoor music venue
The historic Westerville Armory building, located at 240 S. State St., and its 2.3 acre grounds are getting a makeover. And it’s a pretty cool one at that.
COhatch, the prolific Worthington-based company behind many of your favorite Columbus co-working and office-sharing spaces, plans to restore the Armory campus into an eclectic mixed-use site featuring chic office space, a taproom, restaurant, and outdoor music venue.
“The 2.3 acres the building sits on gives us the opportunity to create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind destination that fits the lives of our members and the public,” said Matt Davis, co-founder and CEO of COhatch in a press release. “This location will have indoor and outdoor work and meeting spaces, North High Brewing, peaceful gardens, outdoor event and activity areas, a natural kids play area, integration to the Westerville bike trail, and of course, spaces for our furry friends! We think it will have everything needed for work, play, philanthropy and family.”

COhatch will start this ambitious project by updating the Westerville Armory. It will be used as a cutting edge co-working space, featuring a “four seasons room” made mostly of glass, and meeting spaces in its outdoor garden area.
It will also serve as an extension of The Gateway, COhatch’s incubator for startups and entrepreneurs.
The former Armory garage will be converted into a new North High Brewing taproom and restaurant, which will feature both indoor and outdoor seating. North High and COhatch have collaborated on similar spaces in the past, such as their joint remodel of Brazenhead in Dublin.
“We’re always thrilled to partner with COhatch as they expand to new locations,” said Gavin Meyers, North High Brewing founder in a press release. “These historic properties give us the opportunity to try concepts that are unique from anything we’ve done in the past.”
Additionally, the open greenery to the east of the building, which connects to the Westerville B&W bike path, will host live music and events.
“COhatch has been the right partner when it comes to tapping into the success of Uptown Westerville,” said Monica Irelan, Westerville City Manager, in a press release. “They shared our vision of bringing the historic Armory site back to life. This project creates a space the entire community can enjoy, pairing modern-day workforce needs alongside amenities residents and visitors want. We’re excited to see this all take shape.”
