Watch: Sneak peek of Columbus’ unrivaled rooftop bar

The Juniper rooftop bar is quite literally the cherry on top of an already successful development. But instead of a sweet, red berry, Juniper is an elegant glass box placed on top of the fairly recently remodeled Smith Bros’ Hardware Building. It’s right on the verge of opening its doors to the city.

Located on the tippy top of the large brick building at 580 N 4th St, Juniper is Dock580’s premier rooftop bar. The transformable space is decked out with glass walls, a beautiful wrap-around bar, a huge patio terrace with a fireplace, and a glass, retractable ceiling. The glass walls allow for unparalleled panoramic views of downtown. The retractable ceiling will allow for a comfortable fresh air experience all year round, even in the brutal winter months. We were told that with the open roof, snow will fall into the restaurant-bar but with the ceiling heaters, it will melt before it reaches patrons. The heated floors will also counteract those nippy breezes.

The aesthetic is a merge between industrial and art-deco with cold stone features accented by elegant detail and interesting shapes.

Capitol Equities, the real estate firm behind the project, has been working long and hard to bring Columbus this unrivaled way of dining and drinking. Juniper will feature a menu of small plates and specialize in gin. It will be open to the public Tuesday-Thursday and will host private parties on the weekends.

There will be a few soft opening events in early October and it will official flip the switch October 24.
