Updated local art app features curated tours

Who doesn’t want a tour guide in their pocket?

Thanks to a facelift, the Cbus ArtWalks App (brought to you courtesy of the Greater Columbus Arts Council and Can’t Stop Cbus) now offers themed tours, according to a release from the Arts Council.

Launched last year in response to the pandemic, the Cbus ArtWalks app uses data from the Columbus Makes Art database to show users the locations of Columbus’ outdoor and indoor public art. You can search by title or artist name, too, and find descriptions of over 1,200 pieces of public art in central Ohio.

The app’s recent update gives users the option to explore collections of public art that are within walking distance of each other, such as the River Walk Tour and the Tour of Landmark Sculptures.

A second app update anticipated for this fall will add historic architecture to the app’s database. You’ll also be able to filter search results by type of art, and create a user profile with a your own list of favorites.
