After closing for a month, big changes are coming to Tupelo Doughnuts, here’s what we know so far

Tupelo Doughnuts was one of several popular Columbus eateries to take an extended break this fall due to the pressures of operating in the food industry during the pandemic.

And now, there are even more changes on the horizon.

In a lengthy statement posted to the eatery’s Instagram this morning, owner Kimberley Payne noted that she will be taking a step back from Tupelo, likely in early 2022.

“Covid has completely changed all of our lives. From many of us it has forced us to look at what quality of life means to us,” she said. “For myself, I’ve decided it’s time for me to find more balance in my life and focus on less work and more quality of life balance.”

While the direction the concept is taking isn’t clear just yet, it appears that a change of ownership is a very real possibility.

“We are possibly looking for potential team members who want to be part of the ownership and continue the journey,” Payne said, noting that interested parties should message Tupelo on Instagram.

The doughnut spot also noted that they have several opportunities in place for new directions, but they’re unable to share them until the end of the year.
