Taco outfit found its start at Budd Dairy

For Ana Cruz, the opening of Budd Dairy Food Hall has given her and her family the opportunity to share their cooking with Columbus.

Cruz is owner (she prefers team leader) of Tacos Rudos, a new concept that had its start with the opening of Budd Dairy on April 6.

“Everything is completely brand new,” Cruz said.

Tacos Rudos features authentic Mexican street tacos Cruz and her family had been accustomed to preparing at home. The corn tortillas are made on site, and the tacos feature onions and cilantro, just like they would in Mexico.

“We wanted to stay very authentic,” Cruz said.

Cruz, who is from the Mexican state of Oaxaca, said her brother first heard about the Budd Dairy concept and urged the family to give it a try. The family members assembled a menu within weeks.

“It’s a totally new experience for us,” Cruz said.

Cruz and many of her family members are veterans of the food service industry.

“We just think that food brings people together,” she said.
