Take an early look inside the first phase of Understory, the forthcoming sister brewery to Wolf’s Ridge

Before we know it, Understory will be here. The new concept—a 10,000 square-foot sister brewery to Wolf’s Ridge, located at 2571 Neil Ave.—will focus on lighter, wood-aged lagers, and will also be embracing its unique location.

Situated within the historic Open Air building, the actual bar and taproom (which will open as the concept’s second phase) are still taking shape.

The Understory event space—the first phase of the new project—is set to open next month, though, and Wolf’s Ridge has shared photos of it with (614). According to owner Bob Szuter, it will embrace both the charm of the Open Air building as well as its closeness to the natural world, which Understory has embraced in its name, decor, and even its food and drink menu.

According to Szuter, plants will be a key design element in the Understory space, embracing the concept’s nearness to the natural world
