Popular Texas-based taco chain opening Columbus brick and mortar on northwest side

The Austin-based taco spot Torchy’s Tacos briefly had a presence in Columbus when it opened a ghost kitchen in the Columbus Food Hall last spring. And although that operation is now defunct, its plans to put down more permanent roots in the city just received an important boost.

Torchy’s will be opening a brick and mortar eatery at 3730 W. Dublin-Granville Rd, according to city documents. The space, a former Ruby Tuesday’s restaurant, will also house a new Shake Shack location.

The Columbus City Council approved a rezoning of the property on Feb. 28 that will see the building demolished to make room for both restaurants, which will be new builds.

The Austin-based taco brand is also planning a Polaris location.

Torchy’s did not return a request for comment by the time this story was published.
