Suspect wanted for machete injury at North Side restaurant turns himself in, charged with felony
The man who was wanted by Columbus Police for wielding a pair of machetes at a North Side restaurant employee after an argument–an incident that led to the employee being injured–has surrendered himself to police.
According to court documents, 28 year-old Malik Jones turned himself into Columbus Police over the weekend, according to court documents.
On April 4, Jones and an employee at Kickin Chickin–a restaurant located at 5413 Sinclair Rd.–had an argument inside the eatery before Jones left the restaurant and returned less than a minute later wielding two machetes. The employee, who attempted to grab one of the blades, cut his hand in the process.
According to court documents, in late April Jones told a Columbus detective he brought the machetes into the restaurant in order to “defend himself” and to “scare” the employee.
He is being charged with felonious assault.
