Last Ohio location of decades-old national restaurant chain closing

In 1947, a drive-in restaurant became famous for their all-American cuisine like burgers, pies, breakfast platters, and hot fudge sundaes. 

This restaurant, Shoney’s, became a national hit, and quickly expanded to dozens of states. While there used to be plethora of locations throughout Ohio, there is only one remaining, which has stood the test of time for over 3 decades.

Unfortunately, the last remaining Ohio Shoney’s restaurant in Dover is closing next month. This last Ohio location is officially closing on October 20, after the property was sold in an August auction.

Some of the employees have been working at this Shoney’s since the day it opened.
