Arena District pub under foreclosure; multiple civil suits open against owner

For the past 16 years, patrons have been making their way to a lively Arena District Irish pub for bar fare and rooftop drinks.

But according to Franklin County Court records, that fun may end soon — the establishment is now under foreclosure.

Fadi Michael, owner of Callahan’s Bar & Rooftop at 520 Park St., is being sued by the former owner, alleging that Michael owes more than $500,000 on the property, according to Franklin County Court of Common Pleas documents. Right now, the bar is operating under “520 Park St.” although the establishment is known as Callahan’s

Michael also owes delinquent property taxes of at least $48,834 for 2023, according to the Preliminary Judicial Report, and $63,500 in unpaid previous taxes as well, according to the Franklin County Treasurer. 

Franklin County court records show that Michael has been sued multiple times for unpaid rent and damages through his other now-closed businesses, such as Granero Lounge, Formaggio’s, Julep, and Park Street Cantina. He also is currently facing civil lawsuits worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Fadi Michael did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
