New true crime book takes place in Columbus; explores 18 unsolved murders & serial killers

True crime podcasts and novels always send chills up my spine, but discovering one that takes place in Columbus is an entirely different level of terrifying.

Investigative journalist, Billy Jensen, took to the streets of Columbus, Ohio for his newest true crime non-fiction book, Killers Amidst Killers, where he examines the unsolved cases of eighteen dead and missing women, going back to only 2017. This book was released in December after years of investigating.

Throughout his investigation, he suspects that these women were the victims of serial killers on the loose who are operating under cover of the opioid epidemic here in Columbus.

We don’t want to give away the entire book, but the story begins when two young women, best friends Danielle and Lindsey, both go missing in Columbus within weeks of each other. While Jensen is investigating their disappearance, he uncovers eighteen other missing and murdered women – all unsolved, and all in Columbus, and all suspected of being victims of serial killers.

“In Killers Amidst Killers, readers will ride shotgun with Jensen as he takes on serial killers who are walking among us and planning their next moves in real time. The facts are not in old police reports and faded photos. They unfold before our eyes on the page,” said a press release. “Jensen hunts these predators to bring peace to the victims’ suffering families while putting a spotlight on a system that is leaving hundreds of thousands of bodies in its wake.”

One review emphasizes, “All these women, missing and murdered within a span of a handful of years and a few highways between them, with the state capital of Columbus at its center. Why is this not a national story?” Another says, “The writer had my attention from page one. He doesn’t just tell the story of their disappearance, he writes about their lives and the people who love them. Each woman’s story is different and the same. This is a book I didn’t want to put down.”
