A new study from fitness app Flex AI has named Ohio as one of the nation’s most obese states.

According to the study, which was published earlier this month, the Buckeye State has the 7th highest number of obese adults–individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher–in the country.

In Colorado, the country’s least Obese state, 25 percent of adults are obese. In Ohio, that number is 38.1 percent, above Delaware at 37.9 percent, and below Alabama at 38.3.

The study lists West Virginia as the nation’s most obese state, with an adult obesity percentage of 41 percent, nearly an entire percentage point higher than the next-closest state, Louisiana.

“The US is one of the most obese countries in the world, with its ranking significantly higher when focusing on high-income countries,” Flex AI CEO Amin Niri said in a press release, “While there are numerous factors which play a part in this, the large portion sizes consumed by many Americans and inactive lifestyles are largely responsible. The combination of a higher calorie intake combined with less movement to burn through the excess inevitably results in weight gain.”
