As you descend the stone steps and the cool air hits your face, you look around and realize you’ve been transported to another world. Except this one is only a short drive away in nearby Delaware.

Welcome to Olentangy Caverns.

This unique daytrip-able spot, which was used by the Wyandot in the 18th and early 19th centuries, is headlined by self-guided cave tours, featuring stops such as the Echo Chamber, Crystal Room, and Cathedral Hall. These are available for a mere $9.95 for adults and $6.95 for children aged 3-12.

And the caves aren’t even all of the fun. You can try your hand at gem mining on a traditional sluice (bags with pre-inserted stones are available for purchase), take a few swings on the mini golf course, visit the petting zoo, or take part in their treasure hunt maze.

New to the caverns this year is their Big Foot walking trail, meaning you can find more than one way to engage with the natural world whenever you stop by.
