Owners of Fukuryu Ramen open Japanese street food ghost kitchen
The brains behind Fukuryu Ramen are bringing modern Japanese street food to Columbus.
Domo Donburi—a ghost kitchen specializing in bowls and appetizers inspired by the umami-driven flavors of Japan—opened last week.
The eatery features a handful of hearty starters like pan-fried chicken and vegetable potstickers, seared pork belly with sweet onion chutney and spring onion, and several bao varieties, including spicy katsu chicken and tempura shrimp.

The real calling card for Domo Donburi, according to owner Jeff Tsao, is its slate of rich, creative bowls.
“JFC rice bowls are the king for us. That’s Japanese fried chicken,” he said. “We marinate the lightly breaded chicken in ginger, garlic and soy sauce for delicious flavor to the core. It’s served with our yuzu citrus mayonnaise, thinly sliced cabbage for balance and plump grains of Japanese rice.”
On the Domo Donburi menu, JFC is also referred to as karaage.
Other bowl options include the gyudon, with thinly-sliced beef and sweet onions served over white rice, and the red dragon bowl, which features crispy fried chicken tossed in their fiery red dragon sauce, also on top of white rice.
According to Tsao, many of the best-performing dishes from Domo Donburi will likely be incorporated into the Fukuryu Ramen menu.
