The Plant Gays are opening a storefront in the Trolley District
Set to open later this year, the Trolley District’s East Market will be home to an eclectic variety of food and drink vendors offering everything from gourmet popsicles to Korean fried chicken.
While this part is common knowledge, what many don’t know is the marketplace will also support more than just grab-and-go food. One of those vendors will be The Plant Gays.

Originally a pop-up, this will be the first brick and mortar space for the unique Columbus business. The Plant Gays blend the sale of rare and unusual plants with a customizable interior design service. This means the upcoming East Market seller will not only just provide you with your plants, they’ll make them look great in whatever space you choose.
“We are so excited for the customers at the East Market to have a space to stop in and shop before or after their meal,” said co-owner David Erbe. “We will be a quick stop for anyone wanting to grab a plant or a fresh bouquet of flowers for their home.”
He also noted they’ll be selling a small collection of furniture, planters, and other homegoods.
And to make sure the new vendor is catching the eyes of customers, they made sure to secure a name that was authentic, original, and stood out in a crowded field.
“We originally came up with the name for our Instagram handle. We wanted to create a name that would catch people’s attention so we played off of ‘The Plant Guys,’” Erbe said. “We wanted the name to represent us, while providing visibility for the LGBTQ+ community.”
